Things took a turn for the worse when I was fired from my job during my maternity leave. My situation was not unique, as many Pakistani women face significant challenges in securing gainful employment. Pakistan ranks second-lowest on the Global Gender Gap Index 2022, with only one rank above Afghanistan. A staggering 78% of women in Pakistan do not have breadwinning opportunities due to rigid cultural barriers and so on.
It was at this stage that my husband, who is also my friend and mentor, stepped in to motivate me to explore beyond my academic background and find something that would provide me with physical and mental comfort, economic prosperity, and contribute to the empowerment of other women in society. He provided me with the necessary exposure, possibilities, coaching, aligned setup, and assured me of financial support.
With my husband’s unwavering support, I embarked on a new journey – one that would change my life and the lives of many other women. I chose the slogan “Made by Women” under the vision of 80/20 (Female/Male %) and founded Pak Gloves Industries. This unique business model would be a milestone towards women’s empowerment. I was committed and optimistic about the industrious journey ahead.
To further this vision, I chose to manufacture, import, and export the most compatible leather and textile gloves, which Sialkot is specialized in, being the number one worldwide exporter of sports gloves and the third in overall gloves categories. With hard work and perseverance, I and my team at Pak Gloves Industries are making a positive impact on the lives of women in Pakistan and beyond.
